For those who did not have knee osteoarthritis at the beginning of the 4 years project and followed a Mediterranean diet, a 9% reduced risk of getting knee osteoarthritis was found. (3) Overall, a higher faithfulness to a Mediterranean diet is associated with improved quality of life and less pain, disability and depressive symptoms. (4)
